TOSCA State Opera SA

A roller coaster story of love, lust, murder and political intrigue

With its dramatic story line and Puccini’s richly romantic score, Tosca is one of the world’s best loved operas.

When her lover Cavaradossi, an idealistic artist, becomes caught up in political troubles and is pursued by Scarpia, the corrupt chief of police, Tosca prepares to do whatever it takes to save her beloved.

The return of this incredible opera to Adelaide has been long-awaited, and this stunning co-production with Welsh National Opera will not disappoint.  With its stellar cast including Kate Ladner in the title role, Rosario La Spina as her lover Cavaradossi and Mario Bellanova bringing his powerful presence to the role of Scarpia, this is grand opera on a scale not often seen in Adelaide. Also starring the renowned State Opera Chorus and brilliant Adelaide Symphony Orchestra led by Nicholas Braithwaite, this rousing celebration caps off a stunning 40th anniversary year for State Opera SA!

Chorus rehearsals are well underway and principals have started this week, in the lead up to four performances only: 12, 15, 17, 19 November at 7.30pm, Adelaide Festival Theatre. For car park bookings, call BASS on 131 246.
