ADELAIDE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Running Time: Approximately two hours and 15 minutes (Including a 20-minute interval)
What better way to celebrate State Opera’s 40th birthday than through the genius of Giacomo Puccini. In a beautiful concert set in the renowned acoustic and ambience of the Adelaide Town Hall, a cavalcade of brilliant soloists will bring to life immortal melodies from La Bohème, Tosca, Gianni Schicchi, La Rondine, Madama Butterfly, Turandot and Suor Angelica, accompanied by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Puccini created some of the most memorable moments in opera and was the last of the great Italian opera composers – the climax of a tradition spanning 300 years. He gave his heroines some of the greatest music ever written, with arias and ensembles that have defined operas for generations. With a line-up of soloists that includes Gisele Blanchard, Joanna McWaters, Deborah Caddy, Samantha Rubenhold, Teresa La Rocca, Rosario La Spina and Bernard Hull, this will be the classical concert of the year!
